Energy & The Missing Link

If we know how to produce clean renewable electricity using photovoltaic solar power, why don't we supply electricity to the whole world using this technology? This form of energy would provide practically limitless free energy after the initial investment of building the infrastructure.

To answer this question let's look at some basic numbers involving supply and demand. According to the Enerdata, the world electricity consumption in 2015 was 17.3 TWh. A solar farm the size of the 43,000 square miles would need to be placed in a sunny part of the world such as the Sahara desert to supply more than 17,4 TW of electrical power. A massive electrical distribution grid would also need to be built to distribute this power to all UN members.

Now let's suppose that due to scarcity there is no practical way to acquire this much real estate anywhere in the world for a solar power farm. Look up! There is unlimited real estate in space including other terrestrial bodies in the solar system or the orbital airspace above them. Now that we have solved our real estate problem, the problem of distribution becomes less practical than having the solar power stations on Earth.

Distribution of space power from orbiting solar energy satellites is the "missing link". This is the obstacle in the way of our clean renewable solar powered future. The technology exist to generate electricity from solar panels orbiting in space. This technology has been in use since the early days of the space race and continues to be used in the present day. What can be done to resolve this technical challenge?

One of the core missions of the ICSO is to reduce scarcity for all members of the United Nations in the area of energy, agriculture and natural resources. The expected mutual benefit of this effort is that all UN member nations contributing and sharing in the benefits from ICSO endeavors will strengthen the ability of the UN to maintain Political and Economic Stability among all member nations.

The ICSO proposes to solve the "missing link" in space solar power distribution by looking to the sometimes mysterious world of Quantum Mechanics. Quantum Mechanics can replace the "missing link" with a quantum link popularly know as Quantum Entanglement. The ICSO solution is based on a paper by Masahiro Hotta entitled "Energy Entanglement Relation for Quantum Energy Teleportation". In his paper, Masahiro Hotta presents a mechanism that uses the mysterious phenomenon of quantum entanglement, which provides an instantaneous link between particles over any distance. This mechanism potentially allows energy to be "teleported" instantaneously across any distance.

The ICSO proposal is to use the ICSO fleet of cargo spacecraft to deploy and maintain a constellation of solar energy collecting satellites in space. Quantum Energy Teleportation does not impose any restriction on the location of these satellites. They can be deployed in Earth orbit, around the Sun or another star system if we wanted. These satellites would constitute the transmit end of the system and special batteries acting as the receiving end in this teleportation process would distribute this power on Earth. A special feature of these quantum teleportation receiver batteries is that a single battery will provide any energy output demanded of it. The same battery that powers an electric car could also act as the power source for the urban city power grids already in existence.

One more thing

The Solar Satellites will also use some of the energy they generate to power anti-matter production equipment onboard the sateliiites. ICSO spacecraft would then refuel their anti-matter cells that are used to supply the anti-matter muon catalyzed fusion rocket engines that power the spacecraft.

The energy "missing link" is the Quantum Entanglement link. Here is a summary of the ICSO global energy scarcity reduction proposal:

  • ICSO spacecraft ferry Solar Satellites in Space.

  • ICSO spacecraft and crews maintain Solar Satellites over the duration of their lifespan.

  • Quantum teleportation receiver batteries are distributed among UN members according to each nations need to supply clean and low cost renewable electricity.

  • Small quantities of anti-matter will be produced by the satellites using some of the energy they produce.
